Peace Canvas for the Islamic Community

SACH on behalf the Residents of Hopkinton stand in solidarity with the Islamic community.

On behalf of the entire Community of Hopkinton, SACH conveyed support to the Islamic Community in light of the recent tragic events in New Zealand and presented the 'Peace' Canvas. Nearly 30+ residents of Hopkinton from different backgrounds and faiths submitted messages of unity and peace in support of the Islamic community. SACH took those submissions and composed them into a 'Peace' Canvas. The 'Peace' Canvas which has the composition and design elements of a prayer mat, carries messages of hope and strength from the Hopkinton community and will be hung in the prayer room from where the service is conducted. 

 "We're gathered here as citizens of 'One Hopkinton' and we stand in solidarity with our neighbors. Where we came from in South Asia, the physical and political barriers prevented us from coming together as one, but now that we're here in this town, there is no need to have those barriers anymore. In these trying times, there is no other way but for us to come together and break down our walls to make it 'Hopkinton One'!"

We also participated in the prayer vigil and observed a moment of silence for the victims of the attacks in New Zealand. It was a heart warming experience at the Islamic Masumeen center when we presented the Canvas to the Imam, who talked about the reasons we immigrated to this country for freedom of speech, freedom to practice any religion, exercising our rights to live as equal citizens in our societies and the manifestation of these ideals in our town of Hopkinton. 



The community members also talked about how these incidents are not unique to one community but prevail in all communities, all faiths, in every street and throughout the world. 
SACH and the Islamic community are thankful for all the support and the reassuring gesture shown by the residents of Hopkinton.

Hopkinton Lights Up As One: Festival of Light 2025 Thank you to all who participated in ‘Festival of Light’ event on Dec 6th, 2025 at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts and for Hopkinton Freedom Team for organizing and collaborating with us in this beautiful event! People of all age groups participated in this wonderful town wide event. SACH, in collaboration with other organizations including Hopkinton Chinese American Association, brought together different communities who came to learn about the significance of Light in world cultures, festivals and faiths in celebrating the Holidays together.  Families and children participated in lamp painting, latern making crafts and trying different ethnic snacks and treats. It provided for a fun experience for families, neighbors and friends on a relaxing Saturday morning.

Explore art forms of South Asia: Visual Arts Workshop Series SACH organized 2 workshop series in the months of September and October in collaboration with the Hopkinton Public Library by engaging with local visual artists. The public library provided an easily accessible and a beautiful space for children of different age groups and families to spend time together and create works of art in a therapeutic environment.  These instruction led workshops are designed to bring families together in a creative space and for local artists with specific areas of focus to share their knowledge with the community.
